A switchgear box fire temporarily knocked out power for a portion of the south side, leaving a busy intersection without traffic signals for a short time.
A KRIS 6 News photographer was leaving the scene of another fire when he noticed flames coming from the switchgear box on S.P.I.D and Staples Street on Sunday morning.
TxDOT crews placed stop signs at the intersection to help the traffic flow while crews with the Corpus Christi Fire Department put out the flames.
Power has since been restored in the area.
