18 dogs perish in fire at Minnesota kennel

A fire at a boarding kennel in Stacy, Minn., has claimed the lives of all 18 dogs inside.

Isanti County deputies and firefighters were dispatched to Waterview Kennels at 4:35 a.m. Tuesday. The kennel was engulfed in flames and collapsing when the first deputies arrived on the scene as they fought the fire in bitter sub-zero temperatures.

Television station KSTP reported thatfirefighters with saws were cutting into the building to access the flames and attempt to extinguish them.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal. Also responding was Linwood Fire and Allina Health Emergency Medical Services, reports indicate.

The Waterview website said that the owners live on property “so your pet is not left alone over night.”

Stacy is located about 40 miles northeast of Minneapolis.
